Hi, I’m Ryan Kintz, and in 2012, my wife Amelia Kintz and I co-founded Afton Tickets. As event organizers and concert producers ourselves, we were frustrated with the traditional ticketing landscape. We believed there had to be a better way—one that prioritized both event organizers and event attendees.
Our mission is simple:
Afton Tickets: Where event organizers and their attendees are treated as people, not just ticket sales.
The Problem With Traditional Ticketing Companies
There’s a major disconnect in the ticketing industry between the big ticketing companies and the end user—the customer buying the ticket. Deals are made behind closed doors between large ticket companies and venues, with little to no thought given to how it impacts the attendee.
For Example:
- A $20 ticket can come with a $10.50 service fee—more than 50% of the ticket’s face value.
- Venue owners often don’t even know what their customers are being charged in fees.
- Customer service is often robotic and inflexible, with long lines, confusing will call processes, and limited support.
These are all symptoms of an industry that has lost touch with the very people it’s supposed to serve.
Afton Tickets: Tickets for the People, Not Just the Profits
At Afton Tickets, we believe in democratizing ticketing—not monopolizing it. We believe both event organizers and attendees deserve better.
Here’s what makes us different:
🎟️ You Control Your Own Policies
As the event organizer, you decide your refund and ticket transfer policies. We’re here to support your event—not dictate how it’s run.
💰 Transparent and Fair Pricing
Many big ticketing companies lure venues in with signing bonuses or “profit shares” that are funded by jacking up service fees for attendees. That’s not profit sharing—that’s price gouging. We believe in low, fair service fees that don’t surprise your customers.
🤝 Conversations That Include the Customer
Before raising service fees, shouldn’t we consider how it impacts the people buying the tickets? We think so.
Real Talk: A Personal Story About Service Fees
I once bought tickets to a rescheduled show after the original event was canceled due to illness. When I couldn’t make the new date (due to childcare issues), I asked for a refund—something the reschedule email originally said was possible.
But in the fine print, it said I had only 7 days to request a refund—something buried in a link I didn’t click. I was stuck with two unused tickets and $32 in service fees.
That experience is exactly why we created Afton Tickets. We believe attendees deserve honest communication, and event organizers deserve the ability to provide that level of care.
5-Star Customer Support for Attendees and Organizers
Our goal is simple: provide the best customer service in the industry—for both sides of the ticket.
Event Attendees Deserve:
- Real-time help from real people
- Fair policies that prioritize the experience
- Transparency in service fees and refund rules
Event Organizers Deserve:
- Fast support when it matters—especially in emergencies
- The ability to make changes quickly, not wait 3–4 days for small updates
- A partner that acts more like a teammate than a vendor
There have even been times when I’ve personally refunded a customer out of pocket—because it was the right thing to do.
A Commitment to Do Better
Some big ticketing companies are slowly trying to fix these issues, but they’re massive corporations built on high-margin business models. It’s tough for them to change quickly.
We’re different. We listen, adapt fast, and focus on what matters most: building trust with our clients and their customers.
That’s why so many venues, festivals, and independent event organizers are making the switch to Afton Tickets. There’s a better way to do ticketing, and we’re committed to leading the change.
